A blood drive and fundraising event is scheduled for Billy Ray Smith of Mount Vernon on Saturday, Feb. 27. Carter Blood Care will be accepting blood donations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the old Alco Store located at 306 S. Hwy. 37. The fund-raising event to will begin at 6 p.m. the evening of Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3992 at Lake Cypress Spings.  For more information, see the Feb. 11 edition of the Optic-Herald.
