The deadline to register as a contestant in the 2010 Rodeo Queen contests is 7 p.m. Monday, July 5. The organizational meeting for those registered will be conducted at that time. No horses should be brought to this initial meeting. The contest is sponsored by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Posse. The meeting and final contest entries will be accepted at the sponsor’s arena, located on FM 115 between the I-30 south access road and FM 21. Contestants must live within a 100 mile radius of the Franklin County lines. Girls age 24 and under are eligible to participate. A $50 registration fee or sponsorship per contestant is required. Contestants may have more than one sponsor. In addition, participants are asked to provide donated items for drawings, and register and solicit donations from a set number of people. These funds are used to provide contest prizes and awards. See the July 1 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details.
