Scott Ragsdale, a volunteer fire fighter for Mount Vernon, shows a family how the spray nozzle on a fire hose operates. The open house event for the department on Saturday, Aug. 7 attracted more than 100 people. Tours of the fire station and activities for children were offered throughout the day.
