The first special event permit to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages on city property was approved at the Monday, Sept. 27 special meeting of the Mount Vernon City Council.
The permit issued by the city calls for the selling of only wine at the event. Thus far, seven Texas vineyards have confirmed that they will participate in the event. Each of the vineyards must have its own permits through the State of Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission for manufacturing the product. In addition, they must have a private carrier permit and festival permit to be allowed to dispense the product in Franklin County. For more details, see the Sept. 30 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
