The mayor and first lady of Mount Vernon, J.D. and Iris Baumgardner, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last week. Their multiple event celebration was shared by family, friends and complete strangers, who quickly became friends and admirers. The couple married Oct. 28, 1945.
