Three community minded women, Joan Temple Galt, Rena Nell Taylor and Ozella Stinson Whetstone, were named recipients of the Paul Harris Fellow award at the Friday, Jan. 7 meeting of the Mount Vernon Rotary Club. These ladies joined the ranks of 139 others named as Paul Harris Fellows by the local club over the past 24 years. There was $1,000 donated to the Rotary Foundation in their names. The award is the highest award that can be bestowed through Rotary International. The money is used to fund the organization’s humanitarian efforts, underwrite the youth exchange programs, group study exchange programs, educational programs and alleviation of poverty around the world. For more information, see the Jan. 20 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
