Franklin County has four fantastic volunteer fire departments. It is overwhelming to think that these men and women put their lives at risk to protect the homes and property of our citizens,
and they don’t receive any personal compensation. They have all done a fantastic job of fighting fires in extreme conditions and deserve a standing ovation from us all.
Each of the VFDs also deserves funding support from the citizens they protect without having to beg for it. The cost of fuel alone is depleting their funds quickly, and they are in need of assistance. Each department receives a small amount from the county. The remainder that they need is earned through fund raising efforts. We should each make a donation to our local department.
