Jim Richards, left, Connie Rose, center, and Tina Fountain, right, were the three winners in Texas American Bank’s 100 degree contest.
Bank customers entered predictions of when the mercury would first rise to 100 degrees in 2009. According to the bank’s time and temperature sign, the century mark was reached on June 22 at 4 p.m. There were 64 total entries. Mr. Richards and Mrs. Fountain predicted the mark would be reached on the 21st, and Ms. Rose guessed it would be the 23rd. Each winner received a $100 prize.
