A new threat to the habitat of Lake Cypress Springs recently emerged. Water Hyacinth, a noxious, exotic, floating vegetation, has been discovered in a creek which flows into the lake.
A fully developed water hyacinth has several light purple blooms that float above the water. The earlier stage of the plant resembles a lily pad floating atop the water. For more information see the Oct. 22 edition of the Optic-Herald.
