Mount Vernon Optic-Herald

Officer Mitchell Whitaker assumed duties with the Mount Vernon Police Department on Tuesday, Jan. 19. He earned his Basic Peace Officer certification with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education in December 2009 from the Northeast Texas Community College Police Academy in Mount Pleasant.
