Work was to begin this week on a $1.8 million contract to widen roads in Franklin, Hopkins, Hunt, Lamar and Delta counties. First on the list is the widening of FM 71, which will widen the roadway in Franklin County from the Titus County Line to 1.16 mile west of the line.  See the Feb. 4 edition of the Optic-Herald for a listing of other aspects of this widening project.
