The City of Mount Vernon drew names to determine the candidates’ position on the ballot Wednesday, March 10 as they prepare for a May 8 election.
Meanwhile, the Mount Vernon Independent School District (MVISD) is preparing to call off their election.
The school boards two incumbent members were the only persons to file for election to their two seats. Brad Sears and Richard Carr will be declared elected to the seats in the May board meeting. The election should be called off at the April meeting.
No one else filed as a write in candidate for either the school or the city elections. The deadline for declaring as a write-in candidate was Monday, March 15. See the March 18 edition for more information.
