Mount Vernon Optic-Herald

The Mount Vernon Landmark Commission met twice during the first quarter of 2010 to issue certificates of appropriateness and once for a training session. Members of the Landmark Commission are tasked with interpreting the guidelines adopted by the Mount Vernon City Council for properties in its historic districts related to requests from homeowners making changes to the exteriors of the structures. They must also approve sign and facade grant applications made by businesses within the historic districts. See the April 8 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.
