Commissioners met Friday, April 9 with Don Bohlken, owner of Modern Home Builders to determine a plan of action in constructing the Franklin County Sports Complex.
Mr. Bohlken was adamant that a topographical survey of the area for the complex be done. “Without accurate elevations for the area we will not be able to proper lay out the fields and drainage,” Mr. Bohlken stressed. “There is nothing worse than going some where and find yourself walking in water or mud.”
Commissioners agreed to expending around $4,000 for the topographical survey.
The second phase of the project will be the final layout /positioning of ball fields and the addition or moving of soil at the site. This will be determined by the results of the survey.
Once the field placement is finalized with global positioning markers in place, utilities can be installed. “You will want all the underground utilities in place before beginning other construction on things such as fences, walkways and bleachers,” explained Mr. Bohlken.
