Early voting begins Monday, April 26 for the election of two seats on the council and confirmation of mayor for the City of Mount Vernon. Registered voters can vote early in person in the council chambers of City Hall, 109 N. Kaufman Street through Friday, May 4. The early voting polling place is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. A candidate guide with background and the candidates’ answers to a set of questions can be found in the April 22 edition of the Optic-Herald.
