Swepco customers in East Texas will notice a 9.2 percent increase on their utility bill with the May billing cycle. Swepco is a part of American Electric Power (AEP).
The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) has approved a 6.2 percent base rate increase for Southwestern Electric Power Company (Swepco). In East Texas, the this portion of the bill for a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours will increase approximately $4.57 per month.
The Texas PUC also approved a one-year surcharge to recover costs associated with additional vegetation management and line clearance activities in Swepco’s Texas service territory. This will result in an increase of approximately $2.21 per month from May 2010 through April 2011. See details in the May 6 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
