The wet/dry controversy in Winfield was settled by a vote on Saturday May 8. The town will remain wet. The election to determine the fate of the town being allowed to continue to sell alcohol for off premise consumption drew 129 citizens. Of the citizens voting, 112 voted to keep the sale of alcohol active. Another 17 people voted to make the town dry. See the May 13 edition of the Optic-Herald for more details.
