County sales tax figures skewed

Print

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs today announced that the state collected $1.78 billion in sales tax revenue in May, a 0.1 percent increase compared to May 2009. Franklin County’s tax allocation for the month of May was skewed due to a one time payment by a single taxpayer last year. Because of that one time payment, official comparisons show the county’s sales tax down 73.78  percent from this time last year. For more details, see the June 17 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
