Inflation eating away at food budget for prisoners

Print

Rising food costs are eating into the county’s prisoner food budget despite local gardening and pork raising efforts. Franklin County Sheriff Paul Fletcher was at the Monday, June 28 meeting of the Franklin County Commissioners Court to request additional funds for prisoner food. The sheriff requested an additional $24,122.40 to cover projected inmate food costs through the end of 2010. See the July 1 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for the rest of the story.
