Mount Vernon’s City Council reduced the city’s ad valorem tax rate eight cents per $100 of evaluation, and passed their proposed 2010-11 City budget at their Tuesday. Sept. 14 meeting.
The council adopted a tax rate of $.621476, about a 20 percent reduction over last year’s rate of more than $.70. The rate included $.397634 for maintenance and operations, and $.223842 for debt retirement. For more details, see the Sept. 23 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
