An unattended candle is the unofficial cause of a fire that destroyed the home of John and Jane Davis
on FM 1896 on Monday, Nov. 15. Volunteer fire fighters from Hagansport, Mount Vernon, South Franklin and Purley responded to fight the fire.The Davis family has insurance coverage. Franklin County Fire Marshal Gerry Allen is scheduled to investigate the site on Friday, Nov. 19. For more information, see the Nov. 18 edition of the Optic-Herald.
