Melissa McSwain, Chief Deputy at the Franklin County Tax Office, recently received her certification as a Registered Texas Assessor/Collector.
Ms. McSwain completed a series of six classes for the certification in December 2010 and took the state test given by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation March 18.
Included in the classes were 32 hours in the Basics of Property Tax System, eight hours of Professional Ethics, 16 hours in Property Tax Law, 18 hours of Assessments and Collection, 18 hours in Advanced Assessment and Collections, and 12 hours of Truth in Taxation courses.
