How best to spend the funds remaining from donations, county appropriations, and a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant was discussed at a workshop meeting of the Franklin County Commissioners Court last Friday. Approximately $52,000 remains after current outstanding items have been paid. Initially, the county is expecting to expend another $12,500 for items required in the $50,000 grant from TPWD. An estimated $7,500 to $10,000 of those funds will go for a secure  toddler playground at the site. See the april 21 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details.
