A fire was reported in the laundry room at the Terry Haven Nursing Home around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28. The laundry is in a detached building on the west end of the property.
A gas dryer and a rolling cart with clothes in it burned. The fire traveled up the wall and into the attic of the building, according to Mount Vernon volunteer fire department reports. The loss was estimated at $10,000 for the building and $1,000 for the dryer. The case has been referred to the Franklin County Fire Marshal for investigation.
