Mayor J.D. Baumgardner administered the oath of office to the three newly elected members of the Mount Vernon City Council Saundra Dunn, Kenneth Shelton and Jeff Briscoe.
It was one of the Mayor’s final acts of office before announcing his resignation effective the next day. The City Council has called a special session for 5:30 p.m. today, Thursday, June 2. The council will discuss the potential appointment of a mayor and interim city administrator.
