An inter local agreement is being prepared in anticipation of future approval by both the Mount Vernon City Council and Franklin County Commissioners Court.
The agreement is to outline the cooperative effort  between the two government groups to allow the county to work on roads in the city with the city providing funding for materials. In a reciprocating effort, the city is expected to assist in providing supervision of stray animals for the county.
“We’ve accomplished more here tonight with this discussion than ever before,” commented Interim City Administrator Eddie Turner, who served on the council and as administrator in years past. See a detailed report in the July 7 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
