Assistance in the form of low interest disaster loans is available to both agriculture based and non-farm businesses through the Farm Service Agency (FSA) and the U. S. Small Business Association (SBA).
“I am not sure if anyone in the county has sustained losses due to the weather, but everyone needs to be advised of the availability of these loans,” County Judge Paul Lovier said.
“These disaster loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by drought, excessive heat, high winds and wildfires that began January 1, 2011,” Alfred Judd, Director of SBA’s Disaster Field Operations Center, said.
The United States Department of Agriculture has determined 214 counties in Texas as having sufficient production losses to warrant a designation as primary natural disaster areas.
