A big step was made in the renovation of the downtown water tower during the past week.
Work progressed from the interior of the water tank to the exterior. The shroud is raised around the tower to protects businesses and vehicles in the vicinity of the water tower during sandblasting and painting of the structure’s exterior. “When we blast away the paint on each section, we have to put a primer coat right back on each day. That is what that green color is,” Mr. Smith said. For more information see the August 4 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
