Mount Vernon Optic-Herald

A new fire truck designed specifically for use in fighting grass and brush fires was pressed into service shortly after it was inspected and approved for service. Members of the Mount Vernon Volunteer Fire Department show off the new unit, purchased with a 90:10 grant from the Texas Forestry Service. The truck has a 400 gallon tank and sprays up to 30 gpm from its front mount sweeper nozzle.
