Cook those burgers on the stove or go to a restaurant, and keep the welders inside the shop. That is the message from the Franklin County Commissioners Court. Members of the court expanded the county’s ban on outdoor burning to include outdoor cookers and welding in a special emergency meeting Tuesday, September. 6. This was done as an amendment to the 90 day ban placed in effect earlier. That ban is scheduled to expire Sept. 27. According to County Fire Marshal Gerry Allen, he will present another order at their regular meeting on Sept. 26 to consider implementing another 90 day outdoor burning ban. For more details on the ban, see the September 8 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
