Concerns over affecting the livelihood of local welders has members of the Franklin County Commissioners Court rethinking their expansion last week of the out door burning ban to include welding and grills/cookers. The ban was expanded in an emergency meeting of the court on Sept. 6. Members of the Mount Vernon City Council joined in the ban by adopting their own expanded ban Wednesday night, Sept. 7. Both of the bans include outdoor cookers and grills of any kind, charcoal, wood and gas, as well as welding of all types. For more details from the discussion, see the September 15 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
