County, sheriff sued in Wardrup Fair Labor Standards Act dispute

Print

Franklin County and Sheriff Paul Fletcher are the targets of a wage and hour dispute filed in the U.S. District Court in Texarkana Thursday, Aug. 25. Notice was given to the county and the sheriff last week. The case was filed by former county deputy Brad Russell Wardrup. Mr. Wardrup claims that they failed to pay him for all the hours he worked at his regular rate of pay and for time and one-half that rate for any time over the regular seven day 40 hour work week. The suit stems from when his work began with the drug detection dog Aja, a female Belgian Malawa. For more information, see the September 15 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
