The ban on outdoor burning in Franklin County and inside the Mount Vernon City limits was extended through Dec. 25, 2011. Both entities authorized welding and container grilling if certain precautions are in place. Commissioners extended the county ban at the Monday, Sept. 26 meeting of the Franklin County Commissioners Court. The Mount Vernon City Council followed suit and took action at a special meeting and workshop session Tuesday night.
