The Community Food Bank of Franklin County is assuming duties for assembly and distribution of the annual Christmas For All food baskets for 2011, according to David Chaney, Food Bank coordinator and volunteer. The organizers have placed applications to be filled out by those in need at the Franklin County Library, Northeast Texas Opportunities, Inc. and local offices of the Texas Department of Human Resources. Requests for assistance with food must be filled out and returned to one of the three locations by Monday, Dec. 12. Distribution is  planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 from the Food Bank on Leftwich St. For more information, see the November 3 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
