Filing as a candidate in political parties’ primary elections is being delayed by ongoing brouhaha over redistricting. The filing period was moved up earlier this year by the 82nd Legislative session in Austin to Nov. 12 through Dec. 12 to bring the state’s election dates into line with federal requirements for military ballots. Those dates were changed again by a three-judge federal panel in San Antonio last Friday to Nov. 28 through Dec. 15. See the November 10 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details.
