Members of the board of trustees for Mount Vernon ISD and their elementary students who will have classes in the new school joined together for a ground breaking ceremony at the site of the new school on Friday, July 3. Members and their family members were Richard Carr, Tony and Jacey Clayton, Superintendent Rick Flanagan, Rae and Steve Asay, Kenny and Kenneth Cushion, Hadley, Brad, and Evan Sears, Marilyn Elebert, and Jim Kober. Construction on the new school began Monday and is scheduled to be complete prior to the 2010-11 school year.
