Interest in artificial turf made known at school board meetingAn interest in obtaining artificial turf for the football field was demonstrated during the  Mount Vernon school board meeting on Monday, Nov. 9. A group of  about 20 people attended the meeting. During the open forum session, Chris Coffey, Gary Givney, and Jeff Wagner each addressed the board in support of renovating and upgrading the current sports facilities of the district. All were proponents of installing artificial turf at the football field and updating the baseball and softball fields. For details from the meeting, see the Nov. 12 edition of the Optic-Herald.
