The Tiger Explorers History Club at Mount Vernon Intermediate School recently went on a field trip to explore Indian Trails and the site of the 1841 Ripley Massacre in eastern Franklin county.
The hosts were members of the Franklin County Historical Society. Special guests were Franklin County Commissioner Bobby Elbert and Superintendent John Kaufman. B.F. Hicks guided the tour. After the trip, the group was treated to lunch at a local restaurant. For more information, see the April 29 edition of the Optic-Herald.
