The Mount Vernon Independent School District retained its Recognized rating for 2010 from the Texas Education Agency. This is the second year in a row at this rating level for the district.
“Our staff and students have done a great job, and we are glad to be a Recognized district,” Superintendent John Kaufman said. “We are still striving to reach Exemplary and are getting closer to the goal each year.”
To achieve an Exemplary rating, a campus or district is required to have a 90 percent passing rate for all students and student categories on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills tests (TAKS). For more details, see the Aug. 5 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
