A ribbon cutting ceremony at the main entrance of the new MVISD elementary school is set for Tuesday, August 17 at 5 p.m.
Tours of the building will be conducted after the ribbon cutting, and the Mighty Tiger Marching Band will perform. Several bounce houses, courtesy of the Parent-Teacher Association, will be set up and manned by high school students, and free hot dogs along with chili, chips, and watermelon will be served to those in attendance. The elementary facility is the last of the three new buildings to be completed as part of the $20.5 million bond package approved by voters in November 2008. See the Aug. 12 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details.
