Mount Vernon Optic-Herald

Six eighth grade students were selected to advance from the local Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest. The contest is sponsored annually by the Franklin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3992. Those earning the right to advance to district competition also earned a $100 U. S. Savings Bond from the local post. Those winning the local contest were Dakotah Cooper, Jordan Rios, Kristen Blase, Katy Halter, Hannah Johnson, and Abigail Trejo. For more information, see the Nov. 18 edition of the Optic-Herald.
