The high school parking lot at Mount Vernon schools was a beehive of activity on Thursday, May 5 during the “Shattered Dreams” program.
The program provided a dramatization of an alcohol-related crash complete with police, rescue personnel, EMS response, and family notifications.
“We have been working on this since last September,” Cynthia Linseisen, the high school Communities in Schools representative, said. Senior members of the high school student council met regularly to plan the event. A video was presented to the junior and senior school body showing classmates drinking alcohol. The video ended with the sound of a crash. The students then moved to the high school parking lot where a wreck scene had been staged.
