Scholarships totaling $377,350 were awarded at the 26th annual Rotary Academic Banquet in the school cafeteria on Monday, May 16.
The banquet was attended by more than 280 people. A total of 73 high school students was honored for their participation in U.I.L. academic events and for having all As in the various six weeks periods.
Rotary President-elect Sandy Sariego welcomed the participants and their families, vice-principal Craig Watson provided the invocation for the meal, and High School Principal Kelly Baird acted as Master of Ceremonies for the event.
A total of 70 scholarships from 31 different entities were awarded to graduating seniors from Mount Vernon High School. For more information about the banquet, see the May 19 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
